The heat wave that has settled over much of Spain this week won't remain unchanged. Jorge Rey confirms that this intense episode of high temperatures could end soon. He predicts the arrival of storms starting Friday, May 30, and especially on Saturday, May 31.
During these days, many Spanish regions have experienced a strong and sudden rise in the thermometer. In areas of the interior and the southern peninsula, temperatures reach typical summer figures, exceeding the usual values for May. This warming has made this week one of the warmest on record for this month.

However, the weather won't be stable for much longer. According to Jorge Rey, "starting Friday and especially Saturday, storms could begin to develop." They would be mainly linked to mountainous areas such as the Cantabrian mountain range, the Iberian system, and the Pyrenees.
Jorge Rey warns of the change and sets the exact day
Jorge Rey doesn't specify which areas will be affected exactly. However, the meteorologist warns of a notable change in the atmosphere that will put an end, at least temporarily, to the intense heat dominating these days.
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) confirms this forecast. They explain that a DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels) will enter through the northwest of the peninsula and will cause "an abundant development of evolving cloudiness on Friday afternoon." This instability will mainly affect the northern half of Spain, with showers that could be intense and strong storms, especially in the Cantabrian mountain range, the Iberian system, and the Pyrenees.

In addition, the storms could spread with uncertainty to other areas of the north and the southeast of the peninsula. Dry storms, phenomena in which electrical discharges occur without significant rainfall, can't be ruled out.
For Saturday, May 31, AEMET predicts that storms will continue in the same areas, although more scattered and less intense. However, some storm centers could remain strong, especially in the eastern Pyrenees and the Iberian system.
This change, although desired by those suffering from extreme temperatures, also brings risks. The storms may be accompanied by adverse phenomena such as hail or strong gusts of wind. Therefore, it is advisable to stay informed and follow official recommendations.
The weather in Spain is, therefore, about to experience a major turnaround. From suffocating and prolonged heat to a scenario of storms and fleeting coolness, the weekend will mark a clear contrast.
With this forecast, citizens will need to prepare for more variable weather. Even so, uncertainty remains and it will be necessary to stay alert to updates to know in more detail how the situation will evolve.
